What the analysis covers

  1. Extraction. Invoice number, dates, supplier, currency, line items, subtotal, tax, discounts, shipping and total are read from the document.
  2. Calculation. Every figure that can be derived is recalculated.
  3. Comparison. Derived and printed figures are compared with a small tolerance for rounding.
  4. Completeness. Missing basics such as number, dates or supplier are flagged.
  5. Evidence. Each finding shows the expected and actual amounts and the page it came from.

Digital and scanned invoices

Text-based PDFs are read directly, which is the most reliable route. Scanned pages go through OCR; for best results use a scan at 300 DPI. Anything read with low confidence is listed so you can confirm or correct it, and the checks run again with your answer.

Honest limits

The analysis tells you whether the invoice agrees with itself. It does not compare it with your purchase order or contract, and it cannot confirm the supplier is genuine. For fraud, see how to spot a fake invoice.
